ALPAR Programs
ALPAR supplies up to 200,000 free bright yellow cleanup bags to 160 communities across Alaska every year. Since 1990, we’ve given away over 2 million bags to help clean up Alaska. 2022-2027: cleanup bags sponsored by Northern Star Resources, Ltd. (Pogo Mine).

Jan 29, 2024 · While the New Year may have just started, ALPAR’s 2024 litter prevention season is well underway! Last week we received 879 cases of ALPAR bags. The green bags are used for Flying Cans; the yellow bags are used for community cleanups and Flying Bottles.
ALPAR and Partners: Keeping Alaska Clean
Apr 23, 2021 · Since 1990, ALPAR has given away more than 2 million bags to 160 communities to help clean up Alaska. In rural communities, the money goes to Youth Litter Patrols, which are made up of teenagers paid hourly or by the bag to pick up litter.
ALPAR bags are free to assist in litter prevention/recycling, however depending on how bags reach you, charges apply. One entity per community is allowed to participate in each of the following: Flying Cans/Flying Bottles, Youth Litter Patrol, or community cleanup efforts. This allows bags to be deployed effectively.

ALPAR provides a free program called Flying Cans and Flying Bottles. This program allows communities who are not on the road system with an easy way to begin recycling aluminum cans and #1 and 2 plastic bottles. ALPAR also provides bags for spring clean-up, and when funding is available, grants for youth litter patrols.
