Sep 25, 2016 · I've always thought they look like 3/4 scale american muscle cars. A number of older Japanese cars give that effect, particularly in liftback form (a prime example that comes to mind is the C110 generation Skyline), but few of them are as dead-on as the first gen Celica hatchback, especially ones like OP's with the three brakelights on each side.

Mar 1, 2023 · Hi all, I am a 9th Gen Corolla/2nd Gen Matrix owner and have always been interested in Celicas, and like Matrix’s, I feel were prematurely discontinued. I found a 77 Celica on offer up for $4,900 which seems awfully low. Going to see tomorrow, but is there anything you can recommend?
I had some questions about the 1977 Toyota Celica GT Liftback.
Aug 23, 2012 · I had one without power steering back in the 80s -- a 77 GT liftback -- it was a great car, but that was over 20 years ago. I'm sure they age, is my point, so the problems I experienced driving the car may likely differ slightly from yours. It was one of the most practical cars I ever owned -- got about 25 mpg from what I remember.

Feb 13, 2022 · The first gen Celica was a knock off of the 1968 Camaro and the 2nd gen fastback was a knock off of the Mustang. They were VERY popular once the OPEC embargo kicked in and gas prices spiked because they had 4Cyl engines and got 25+ MPG, while still looking like a classic muscle car.

Oct 18, 2023 · You hardly ever see a 3 piece rear spoiler on a 1st gen Celica. I have an RA20 Celica with the flairs fiberglassed in (no fasteners can be seen) and a 3 piece rear spoiler. TBH, I'm not sure how much I like the rear spoiler any more, but it was a thing back then. Great paint job, what engine does it have and what mods?
