I know they are supposed to be able to go in place of a 6L6, but are they direct replacements, or do they maybe function a little different? I hear people say that 5881's are not identical...

Aug 4, 2020 · If that's the case, I'd look at the internal construction to see if it's actually a new production equivalent to a 6N3C, 6N3C-E, or 6P3S Russsian tube. Even though the spec sheet says 250 V for plate voltage, the question/answer section of the listing on tubesandmore.com says it's 500 V maximum.

Sep 2, 2019 · A bit of fuel for the fire - how about a VW Type 3 Fastback? If you bump up the power some, it should be much like an old 911, no? Idk about a 911, but my type II fastback was the most nimble v-dub I ever drove.

Just making sure there's not a hidden problem pushing the bias hotter than it should be for this resistor value. I measured the wall voltage where I live at 248V, way more than the 220-230V the circuit...
