Mar 13, 2012 · its a pushrod V8, mechanically they are very sound most problems are sensor related, I dont regret getting a 5.2 over a 4.0 at all and the sound with a 3" catback with a FM40 :drool:

Apr 13, 2011 · This one will be a bit tougher a swap then a magnum v8! If you have a 97 tj then you will need a pcm out of a 97 ram or dakota 5.2 and the harness as well! The 89 you have doesn't have the same multi port injection the newer magnum v8's do. Really nearly everything is different between the old la engine and the magnum.

Nov 7, 2013 · In order to use the NV4500 behind the 5.2 or 5.9, you will need to find a NV4500 out of a 2nd gen Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9 V8, not the 5.9L I6 Cummins. The 4500 will also hang down below the frame rails by quite a bit, so beware if you're doing an LCOG build.

Agreed - I had a 96 ZJ/5.2 and it was a great engine - responsive, powerful and reasonable mileage for a V8 (you should get better mileage in the lighter TJ). The 5.2 is probably one of the best engine swaps for the TJ so we'll all be watching your progress! :thumbsup:
