Jun 12, 2010 · The 12BY7 develops heater to cathode shorts in the SX-101A after one year of standby operation. The filament is always kept on if the radio is plugged in. 12BV7 would most likely have the same problem, since I believe some tubes are marked with both types.

Mar 9, 2020 · The 12BY7/7A gets tired relatively fast if run on the higher bands a lot such as 10-12-15M. The power on my TS-830 drops to about 70W after 3-4 years if run heavy on those bands. The output tubes are the original S-2001's by Matsushita, a 6146B clone.

Dec 27, 2022 · The 12BY7 plate/cathode current is also highly dependent upon the Screen voltage being used. That circuitry is identical to the Heathkit Apache TX-1 which I owned long ago. That also had a 1/2 watt 680 ohm resistor in the 12BY7 cathode circuit and I never had a problem in that area.

I am looking for an estimate on an item. This is not an add but I am not sure if it is allowed on this forum. If this should not be listed I am sorry, just looking for some information. I have a 12BY7 with the plate cap on top of the tube. This is definitely a collectors item. There were about 3 made and only two people owned them.
