Why put a bms that limits amp hrs on a LiFePO4 battery?
Jun 21, 2020 · The 100 amp bms does NOT affect the 200 ah capacity of the battery. The 100 amp bms DOES affect the largest load that you can put on the battery at any given moment. YES you CAN safely use 80% of the 200 amp hours stored in the LiFePO4 battery. In fact you can safely use more than 80% !
BMS Basics 4 100AH 200AH 4 & 8 Battery Setups - DIY Solar …
Jul 4, 2021 · When looking at a BMS, they are rated for the amount of amperage they can handle. So a 4S/100A BMS will handle a maximum of 100A @ X voltage, be it 12,24 or higher. The BMS' that do not use external relays, use FETS for internal handling of the power, FETS work well but are not tolerant of working beyond spec.
100A or 200A BMS? - DIY Solar Power Forum
Apr 7, 2022 · So a 100 amp BMS is really only good for 50 amps. Some BMS will allow a surge over the amp rating, but only for very short periods of time. The 120 amp JBD BMS (aka Overkill Solar) has been proven to run continuously at 120 amps. Some BMS have different ratings for charge and discharge. Keep an eye out for that.
LifePO4 100 vs 200 amp bms - DIY Solar Power Forum
Nov 30, 2019 · I'm looking at purchasing (3) 12v 200ah batteries in parallel for a 5th wheel trailer. The same brand battery offers a 100amp BMS and a 200amp BMS. The trailer is 50 amp. Is there a benefit to using the 200amp BMS? There is about a $50 difference. TIA!
Is 100 Amp BMS ok to add to? - DIY Solar Power Forum
Aug 25, 2021 · First thing is making sure the 60% share does not exceed the 100 amps capable BMS. Don't expect to get twice the max current capablity and twice the AH rating. With four batteries in 2p2s 24v configuration, sometimes you can swap batteries around to get better current distribution balance.
How to select BMS size? Choosing the right fuse
Jan 6, 2022 · And choose a BMS rated for twice your expected maximum power. 800 watts on a 12 volt system is 80 amps. I would use 100 amp rated wiring and fuses, and a 200 amp BMS. If you go with a "Smart" BMS, set it to 90 amps as the over current limit. Fuses will easily pass double current for a 0.5 second surge, so you don't need to size up for that.
200 amp/h LiTime 100 amp BMS shutting down - DIY Solar Power …
Oct 26, 2021 · Used my 2-200-amp Li-Time batteries (100-amp BMS) wired in parallel for the first time this weekend camping in a RV and the BMS would randomly shut the batteries every morning (3 times). I was able to re-start them from my friend’s generator by plugging into the shore line. I had 13.2 volts when the BMS did the shutdown, and 13.2 volts after.
Parallel two 100ah: double the max draw? | DIY Solar Power Forum
Mar 23, 2022 · It probably is 100 amps or more so then 100 amp fuse is fine, but if not, need to fuse less. i assume the ‘100 ah BMS’ has a max discharge of 100 amps, so this would be fine. Again, a spec sheet would tell. Class T’s are recommended for lithiums. I have three class t fuses on my lithiums, one for each battery, and one once paralleled.
Batteries, BMS, Heat, and Wiring (3x100AH vs 1x300AH, 12v)
Apr 5, 2022 · In order to use 4/0 pure copper wire with a 400 amp fuse you need to set the inverter cutoff to 12 volts. Practically that means an inverter charger as discrete inverters generally don't have a configurable low voltage cutoff. A 200 amp bms won't cut it. So you need 3 batteries each with a 100 amp bms and the path resistance must be perfect.
