NJ is the only SREC state in which the client and/or installation company is responsible for obtaining the state SREC certification. In other states, SRECTrade can complete the certification process for its clients.

Each time a solar installation generates 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, an SREC is earned. Solar project owners report the energy production to the Generation Attribute Tracking System (GATS). This reporting allows SREC’s to be placed in the customer's electronic account.

SREC-II Pricing Structure The New Jersey BPU has established new incentive levels for eligible solar facilities within the SuSI ADI Program. An announcement by the NJCEP can be viewed here.

New Jersey replaced its SREC market with the Solar Successor Incentive program. Under the new program, one SREC-II is created for every 1,000 kWh of solar energy a solar system produces. Solar homeowners will earn $85 per SREC-II they generate for 15 years.
