The Rolling stock of the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway was one of the most distinctive aspects of the 1 ft 111⁄2 in (597 mm) narrow gauge line which ran for almost twenty miles across Exmoor in North Devon, England, from 1898 to 1935.

The only steam railway in the UK where passengers travel in Victorian railway carriages designed in the 1890s.

Wagons are numbered in the 50s and 60s sequence to avoid clashing with current and future projects to build replicas of original L&B wagons. L&BR No.52 with L&BR No.50 at Woody Bay. These are ex-MoD flat wagons regauged by the WHR (P) and purchased by the L&B in1995.

Jan 10, 2025 · The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway was always known for its distinctive locomotives and carriages, all built to high standards. Most of the original rolling stock was broken up when the line closed in 1935 and for the first nine years of our operation of the revived railway we used smaller and lighter locomotives and carriages.

A range of carriages and three freight vehicles that ran on this wonderful narrow gauge line in north Devon. Carriages available in original livery, intermediate livery, and final Southern Railway livery.

Built 1898 at Bristol Wagon & Carriage Works - owned by the L&BR Trust. Although delivered to Woody Bay as a static exhibit in the early days of operation, lacking bogies and suitable couplings and having no brakes it could not be used in a train.

The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway (L&B) was a single track, 1 ft 11 + 1 ⁄ 2 in (597 mm) narrow gauge railway. It opened in May 1898 and ran for slightly more than 19 miles (31 km) through the area bordering Exmoor in North Devon , England.

These finely detailed ready to run wagons are accurately modelled on the rolling stock of the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, both as an independent railway and after its' absorption into the Southern railway in 1922.

The redesigned L&B bogie freight stock. They are 8 ton open wagon with its long tarpaulin rail and the long box van – four of each supplied by Howards for the Southern Railway. The kits now feature laser cut wooden parts for even greater accuracy to the real thing – and a lot more detail!
