(Baldwin the Leper), c.1161–1185, Latin king of Jerusalem (1174–85), son and successor of Amalric I. Raymond,count of Tripoli, was regent from 1174 to 1176. Baldwin was constantly engaged, except for a truce (1180–82), in defending his kingdom against Saladin.

Baldwin IV (1161–1185), known as the Leper King, was the king of Jerusalem from 1174 until his death in 1185. He was admired by his contemporaries and later historians for his willpower and dedication to the Kingdom of Jerusalem in the face of his debilitating leprosy.

Baldwin V reigned as the king of Jerusalem from 1185 until his death at the age of eight in 1186. [1] He was buried in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the city of Jerusalem as the last of seven Latin monarchs buried there.

Apr 2, 2024 · We do know that when he died, in April or May of 1185, he was buried in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre along with the previous kings of Jerusalem. His burial site was at the crossing of the south transept, which is a bit hard to visualize since the Holy Sepulchre is kind of oddly-shaped, but it was essentially right in the middle of the church.

Jul 20, 2006 · The leper king deferred this all-important decision to the High Court, who chose Raymond of Tripoli. Having done his best to provide for his kingdom, Baldwin IV relinquished his soul to God on May 16, 1185 and was buried in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
