All new drivers will need to complete the Traffic Law and Substance Education course before applying for a license in Florida. An insurance discount can be available for those who are over 55 years old and take the Mature Driver Discount course.

Basic Driver Improvement Course. If a driver receives a non-criminal moving violation and does not have a commercial driver license, they may elect to attend a FLHSMV-approved basic driver improvement school once every 12 months or a total of eight times within their lifetime.

Florida Traffic School Courses. Drivers that get a traffic ticket in Florida have the option of taking several courses to avoid points on their drivers license, regain their driving privilege or complete a judge or court ordered requirement.

Drivers are required to complete a course approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), and may contact the approved BDI course provider to register for the course.
