"Ward No. 6" (Russian: Палата № 6, romanized: Palata nomer shestoy[1]) is an 1892 novella by Anton Chekhov. The story was first published in the No.11, November 1892 issue of Russkaya Mysl. Divided into chapters and with minor edits it was included into the 1893 collection called Ward No. 6, published in Saint Petersburg.

Ward 6 is the largest ward in the District and the only ward that touches all four quadrants of the city. Bounded by the Anacostia River and Washington Channel to the south and west, reaching east to RFK Stadium, and north to NoMa and Shaw, Ward 6 is home to some of the city’s most diverse, vibrant neighborhoods.
