STS-91 was the 24th flight of Discovery, and the final Space Shuttle mission to the Mir space station. It was flown by Space Shuttle Discovery, and launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 2 June 1998. [1]

The first phase of the cooperative effort in space exploration between the United States and Russia was completed in June 1998 with the launch of Space Shuttle Discovery on the ninth and final docking mission with the Russian space station Mir.

When Commander Charlie Precourt and Pilot Dom Gorie landed Discovery at precisely 2 p.m. EDT on June 12, 1998, they ended the operational phase of the Shuttle-Mir Program and delivered Andy Thomas back to Earth after his 41⁄2 months onboard Mir.
