The Pennsylvania Railroad Class A6 Electric Boxcab Locomotive is a 0-4-0 diesel boxcab locomotive from the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Class A was the 0-4-0 type, an arrangement best suited to small switcher locomotives (known as "shifters" in PRR parlance). Most railroads abandoned the 0-4-0 after the 1920s, but the PRR kept it for use on small industrial branches, especially those with street trackage and tight turns.

Jul 19, 2024 · PRR class A6 locomotive. Three built, PRR 3905-3907, not all with the same prime movers, some (I think one) was originally built as oil-electric, the others were originally built as gas-electric. All were later remotored with new prime movers before they were retired...

These two photos show PRR 930 as built in 1873 (left) and as modified c.1880 to serve as the special engine for the General Superintendent Altoona. It was retired in 1899 and special locomotives assigned to officers' use were discontinued in 1917.
