Microsoft has released official Windows 11 version 24H2 Evaluation images, which allow using the operating system for free for 90 days.

Microsoft may have accidentally confirmed that Windows 11 24H2 (Windows 11 2024 Update) is arriving on September 24 as part of the optional preview update, with it rolling out to more people as part of the mandatory October Patch Tuesday updates.

Update rolls out a lot of AI capabilities, from the Copilot Runtime to Recall AI, Live Captions, Auto Super Resolution, Studio Effects, and more.

Windows 11 24H2 is not coming out next week. The update was originally planned for late September or early October.

As expected, Microsoft will begin broadly shipping Windows 11 version 24H2 to customers in October after a preview release next week.

File Explorer is also getting some improvements as part of the Windows 11 version 24H2. In this updated version of the file manager, Microsoft is rolling out changes to the context menu, tabs system, file management for archive formats and ".png" files, and a few other tweaks.
