U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan has issued a temporary restraining order against the Trump administration’s federal funds freeze, extending a hold on the freeze while calling the government’s attempt to evade judicial review “disingenuous.

The case is scheduled to reconvene in-person at the U.S. District Court of Rhode Island on Feb. 21, at the request of several state attorneys general to offline.

In a Thursday letter to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, four Democratic lawmakers including U.S. Senator Jeffrey Merkley expressed outrage over what they said was a continued freeze in funding from the environmental agency. The EPA immediately did not respond to a request for comment.

U.S. District Judge John McConnell Jr. said the Trump administration appeared to still be pursuing the "pause" on federal grants even though the Office of Management and Budget rescinded a memo authorizing the freeze.
