In its early years, Circus Circus was “one of the most notorious Mob haunts on the Strip,” according to a story on The Mob Museum website. The casino’s founder, Jay Sarno, built the resort in part with a Mob-connected $7.6 million Teamsters loan.

Phil Ruffin, the Wichita-bred casino developer, says he is entertaining offers for one of Las Vegas' legendary hotels. According to an interview in Forbes, Ruffin is planning to sell the 57-year-old Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, which Ruffin has owned since buying it from MGM in 2019 for $825 million.
