Polk reportedly interviewed for Dallas’ special teams coordinator role a few weeks ago. Schottenheimer ended up filling the gig with former 49ers defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen. Polk has been in the NFL ranks as an assistant special teams coach since 2010.

Brian Schottenheimer has added another new name to his Dallas Cowboys coaching staff. And this time it is another familiar face. According to reports from ESPN Cowboys insider Todd Archer, Schottenheimer has tabbed Carlos Polk as the assistant special teams coordinator under the recently hired Nick Sorensen.

Shimko will replace Will Harriger, who the Panthers hired as their quarterbacks coach last year. Shimko and head coach Brian Schottenheimer worked together in Seattle in 2018-19.

The Cowboys continue to refine their offensive coaching staff. ESPN’s Todd Archer reports that the Cowboys will name Steve Shimko as their new quarterbacks coach.

While the Dallas Cowboys may not have had as slow of a coaching search as the New Orleans Saints, they're still putting the finishing touches on their coaching staff as we approach mid-February. One key spot on the staff will now be filled by a former national champion and longtime assistant coach.
