Meniscal injuries can be further classified based on their tear patterns [26] (Figure 7). A vertical or longitudinal tear occurs in line with the circumferential fibers of the meniscus (Figure 8).
The meniscus consists of a pair of C-shaped fibrous shock absorbers located inside the knee joint. Torn frequently, the meniscus causes all kinds of problems, some of which are fixable.
