An asteroid which has a one in 32 chance of hitting the Earth with enough force to destroy a city has been caught on camera. A steroid 2024 YR4 has a slightly higher than 3% chance of hitting the Earth and has been placed at the top of the danger klist by NASA and the European Space Agency.

An AI platform predicted that the likelihood of asteroid 2024 YR4 colliding with Earth in 2032 has risen to an all-time high.

There is currently a 0.28% chance that 2024 YR4 will strike Earth on December 22, 2032 – a drop from 1.5% yesterday – according to the space agency. Meanwhile, the chances the asteroid will hit the Moon increased from 0.8% to 1%. NASA estimates that the asteroid is about 130-300 feet (40-90 metres) wide.
