After a viral LinkedIn post from an account claiming to be Elmo said that he had been laid off from Sesame Street due to “federal budget cuts,” Sesame Workshop confirmed it was a parody.

Elmo is sad. Elmo loved his time at Sesame Street,” the message said in part. “Elmo is going to miss his friends Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie, Bert, Abby, Grover, Count and so many more.
