Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) isn't a cheap stock anymore, at least on a dollars-per-share basis. Its stock price has reached over $700 per share, a range that many investors begin wondering if a stock split is imminent.

Shares of Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) were among the winners last month. The social media stock took off after the inauguration, benefiting from a potential TikTok ban, the company's increasingly cozy relationship with President Donald Trump, news of increased investment in artificial intelligence (AI), and even the DeepSeek revelation.
Meta Platforms stock just closed higher for the 20th straight day
With a close at a record high of $736.67 on Friday, Meta stock is now up over 600% from its lows hit back in the fall of 2022. Amid that year's tech washout that followed the Federal Reserve's decision to begin raising interest rates aggressively in the face of a 40-year high in inflation, Meta stock fell more than 70% from peak to trough.
Can Meta Platforms Stock Turn a $10,000 Investment Into $1 Million?
For Meta's stock to turn a $10,000 investment into $1 million, it would need to grow to 100 times its original value. That means its market cap would one day need to top $180 trillion. Given its elevated valuation, I don't see that as being a likely scenario. Even getting to 10 times its value, to more than $18 trillion, might be a long shot.
