The Alabama Department of Public Health is encouraging people to vaccinate their children against the measles.

This comes after cases of the highly contagious disease are rising in several states, including Texas and Georgia, during the first two months of 2025.

While sickness is in the air, the Alabama Department of Public Health is reminding parents to make sure that their children are up to date on their measles shots.

Unvaccinated people have a 90 percent chance of becoming infected, and infected people can spread the disease for up to three weeks.
