The U.S. attorney for Manhattan has resigned after she refused to succumb to pressure from the Justice Department to drop corruption charges against New York City’s mayor.

Danielle Sassoon, who resigned from her position as Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor, oversaw all investigations into federal crimes in the Southern District of New York, including the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams that the Trump administration has directed be dropped.

The interim U.S. attorney in Manhattan and two officials with the federal public integrity unit quit after the Justice Department ordered the charges against Mayor Eric Adams to be dropped.
