The fire is burning in the peat-rich soil of the forest. It’s one of several fires burning on federal property that show up on the Forest Service’s interactive wildfire-tracking map.

“These figures paint a concerning picture about the growing incident rate of wildfires in the UK,” a spokesperson from the UK’s National Fire Chiefs Council said in a press release.
