Global warming is causing all Alpine glaciers to recede, affecting natural boundaries and changing mountain routes. As climate change causes glaciers to melt, Switzerland and Italy have redrawn a section of their border spanning a part of the Alps.

Even if global warming is limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius under the 2015 Paris Agreement, the world still stands to lose around a quarter to half of all glaciers by 2100.
