Skip Schumaker, who was the 2023 NL Manager of the Year after leading the Marlins to the playoffs, has joined the Rangers as a senior adviser for baseball operations.

Skip Schumaker was one of the most attractive managerial candidates after he stepped down from his post with the Miami Marlins last month. He's joining a front office instead. The Texas Rangers have hired Schumaker as a senior advisor to president of baseball operations Chris Young,

Texas also is expected to finalize a deal with Schumaker’s former bench coach in Miami, Luis Urueta, to join the Rangers coaching staff in the same role.

Luis Urueta, Schumaker's bench coach with the Marlins, is also expected to join the Rangers as their bench coach. The team has not yet announced either hire.
