Republican Congressman Jim Banks easily earned a promotion to the U.S. Senate Tuesday night after unofficial results showed he secured 57.7% of votes in the race for Indiana’s open seat, overcoming Democratic competitor Valerie McCray and Libertarian Andrew Horning.

Banks, 45, was strongly favored to win the Senate race in the Hoosier state, which Trump won by large margins in 2016 and 2020.

Republicans continued their domination in congressional races led by Rep. Jim Banks, who won Indiana's open U.S. Senate seat by 20 points. Driving the news: Banks had 58% of the vote just after midnight Tuesday,
