The Bihar government issued a flood alert for northern and central regions particularly along the swollen Kosi, Gandak and Ganga rivers after water was released from the Valmikinagar and Birpur barrages on September 28.

India's financial Mumbai and suburbs continue to grapple with heavy rainfall, impacting daily life across the city. Incessant downpours over the past few days have inundated various neighbourhoods, leading to widespread waterlogging in the city.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Dhule Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Akola, Amravati and Buldhana districts and an orange alert for the adjoining Raigad and Palghar districts due to the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Heavy rain is likely in West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Patna, Jehanabad, Madhubani and Bhojpur districts, IMD's bulletin said.

With isolated heavy rain projected for these regions, officials are urging residents to remain cautious and prepared. The agency has also highlighted a moderate flash flood risk for several areas in the south Gujarat region and the coastal areas of Konkan and Goa.
