Google has upgraded its Gemini app with a Google Home extension. It allows Android users to communicate with Gemini more naturally while making it easier to customise and control your smart home devices. This Gemini upgrade is available in Google Home Public Preview but it doesn’t support all smart devices yet.

The extension in Gemini doesn’t support all smart devices, however. As Google notes, it will link you to the Google Home app for controls related to security devices, including cameras, locks, gates, and doors. It also can’t execute routines.

Google Gemini Extensions are starting to arrive for Home, Messages, Phone, and even WhatsApp. Home’s Gemini Extension supports natural-language control of your devices. You’ll need to register for Home’s Public Preview to get early access.
