For the first time, liquor stores in Colorado could stay open on Christmas. It's part of a new law that went into effect this year. In May, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed a bill into law allowing liquor stores to stay open on the holiday. Until now, it was the only day of the year they were required to keep closed.

FOX31's Gabrielle Franklin spoke with the owner of a liquor store as they experience the first Christmas Day being open after a new law was put into effect.

Business was steady throughout the day at Argonaut, which stayed open while grocery store King Soopers was closed on Wednesday.

It could be a white Christmas after all in Colorado’s high country. A wide swath of the state from Telluride to Winter Park could receive between 1 and 4 inches of snow Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Vail, Aspen and Steamboat Spring could see between 1 and 2 inches, forecasters said.

Christmas Day feels a little bit warmer than it should this year, although temperatures are nowhere close to breaking historical records. Grand Junction has a forecasted high of 45° today. Montrose will reach 42°, Delta will reach 44°, and Cortez will have a high of 43°.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a low probability of snow on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. If it does happen, it would be brief and in the late afternoon or early evening on Christmas day.

Starting Dec. 26, the Texas Disposal Systems will accept live Christmas trees and live decorations to be repurposed into compost and mulch.
