The National Hurricane Center's 5 am Thursday advisory reported that Category 1 Hurricane Helene is 350 miles southwest of Tampa Florida and 385 miles south of Apalachicola Florida, with maximum sustained wind of 90 mph. It’s moving 12 mph to the north-northeast.

Hurricane Helene was upgraded to a Category 2 storm Thursday and expected to grow even stronger before making landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region on Thursday evening. Nearly 300 miles of the Florida coastline — from Mexico Beach in the Panhandle to the Anclote River just north of Tampa — was under a hurricane warning.

Hurricane Helene is expected to strengthen to Category 3 or higher before it makes landfall on Florida's Big Bend.
