At 4:34 p.m. on Monday, the NWS Blacksburg VA released a flood advisory in effect until 10:30 p.m. for Watauga County.

The county’s EMA office told us that a lot of these damaged dirt roads had to be also closed during Debby, Helene, and now this flooding.

Since the storm, Kemp says the county has added new tools to help during future floods. That includes a rescue boat and plans for special training with the City of Perry.
