Illinois state parks saw more visitors in 2024 than any point in the past 15 years, according to new data from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Because central and southern Illinois differ from the north in how they make and buy electricity, they’re slipping behind in the race for cheap power, clean air and economic growth.
