When Clown in a Cornfield first slashed its way onto the scene, it looked like a classic slasher romp — a creepy setting, a masked killer, and a group of teens being hunted down one by one.

C.C. Opanowski says it's still difficult to process the fact that a person she once loved was convicted of murder. She hopes that others can learn from her story.
