U.S. Representatives Pete Stauber (R) and Kelly Morrison (DFL) are co-authors of a bipartisan bill to study the impacts of using phones in class and provide schools with secure containers for phones.

Citing cyberbullying and learning distractions, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said he will endorse legislation to ban cell phone use in the classroom statewide.

State Rep. Joel Kitchens, a Republican from Sturgeon Bay, authored the bill. He says it will help teachers "get the undivided attention of their students."
