The move continues an eventful day for the Mercury. Phoenix agreed to a deal to acquire five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas and Ty Harris from the Connecticut Sun for guard Natasha Cloud, wing Rebecca Allen and the No. 12 pick in the 2025 WNBA draft.
The Sun gave Thomas the core designation earlier in January, meaning the only way for Thomas to be moved was via a sign-and-trade
Thomas is a five-time All-Star, three-time All-WNBA pick, has six WNBA all-defensive team selections, and is the league's all-time leader in triple-doubles with 11 in the regular season and four in the postseason. She was also a member of Team USA's gold medal-winning squad at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
