After two weeks of helping to fight the devastating wildfires in Southern California, Utah firefighters are on their last 24-hour shift.

The catastrophic fires in Southern California have many Sandy residents concerned over similarities in topography between the two locations.

Video from Southern California shows the desolation left behind after this week's wildfires. And while it is hundreds of miles from Utah, it used to be home for me.

But while the January fires rank as the most destructive in Los Angeles history, they have not been as damaging as others in the Golden State. They are among only some of the worst wildfires California has ever seen.
