Songs from popular artists have begun to disappear from YouTube as the platform’s deal with the performing rights organization SESAC (Society of European Stage Authors and Composers) approaches its expiration date.

A number of YouTube videos featuring music from artists such as Adele, Green Day, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, and R.E.M. have been unplayable in the United States since Saturday. In statements to the press and on social media,

Songs by Bob Dylan, Adele, Green Day, Burna Boy and many others are unplayable on YouTube due to a legal dispute between the platform and SESAC.

The blocks didn't affect all of these artists songs, but when users clicked to listen to some of them — like "Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele — they instead were met with a message that reads, "This video contains content from SESAC.

A dispute between YouTube and SESAC has resulted in videos from Green Day, Alice in Chains, Adele, and others being blocked.
