The victims of the UPMC shooting were taken to WellSpan York Hospital, and WellSpan Health is enhancing security at its facilities throughout south-central Pennsylvania, including Waynesboro and Chambersburg hospitals, numerous other medical buildings and offices in Franklin County.

WellSpan is implementing enhanced security measures across all facilities in light of the deadly mass shooting that broke out at UPMC Memorial in York County.

WellSpan has metal detectors in some settings, including the emergency department at York Hospital, because of the high traffic, the release states. The hospital also has armed, on-duty police officers working with the staff, and security uses handheld wands when it is warranted.
