Microsoft Corp. halted work on two data center sites in Mount Pleasant. The company says it remains committed to building additional data centers in Mount Pleasant but won't say when. Microsoft is on track for completing construction on its first Mount Pleasant data center.

Microsoft has abandoned data center projects set to use 2 gigawatts of electricity in the U.S. and Europe in the last six months due to an oversupply relative to its current demand forecast, TD Cowen analysts said on Wednesday.
