Cincinnati Reds rookie Rhett Lowder finished his six-start, big-league debut season with a 2-2 record and 1.17 ERA.

Rhett Lowder had one heck of a 2024 campaign. The former first round pick tossed five innings of shutout baseball on Saturday against the Cubs, giving up just three hits and three walks in five innings.

That versatility and late-season starting prowess should put Martinez, 34, in line for a multi-year deal this winter with the bidding probably starting in the neighborhood of three years, $50 million.

Nick Martinez’s looming decision isn’t really that much of a decision. Owner of an opt-out in his two-year deal signed last November with the Cincinnati Reds, Martinez can choose to return to Cincinnati and take a payout from the $14 million he made this season to $12 million in 2025.
