Seven weather-related deaths and at least two dozen injuries have been confirmed in the Mid-South as storm damage mounts. The confirmed fatalities all come out of Tennessee so far, though emergency management officials are continuing to assess the impacts of the ongoing severe weather throughout the region.

Severe thunderstorms are forecast to move across the Midwest and the Mississippi Valley through the week, with the NWS warning of “widespread, intense storms” and the potential for “generational” flooding in parts of Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

The National Weather Service described the disaster as "a once-in-a-generation to once-in-a-lifetime" event, warning that the worst may still be ahead.
