Plans for a potential casino in Nassau County took a hit on Wednesday after Las Vegas Sands announced it is no longer pursuing a New York gaming license.

There will not be a casino constructed on Long Island. At least not now. Las Vegas Sands has officially stepped away from its plan to build a casino and resort at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.

While some say the end of the Las Vegas Sands casino deal is a win, the Nassau County executive said there's interest from other bidders.
