Red Bull is back in the headlines after a rather brutal seat swap involving Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda. 23-year-old Lawson managed just two races alongside four-time World Champion Max Verstappen and, after two disappointing race weekends in Australia and China, has been demoted back down to Racing Bulls for the remainder of 2025.

The start of the 2025 Formula 1 season has not been what Red Bull was hoping for. After two race weekends, the Bulls find themselves sitting third in the Constructors’ Championship standings, looking up at both Mercedes and McLaren.

Barely three months ago, Yuki Tsunoda’s window to drive for Red Bull Racing in Formula One appeared to have closed. Despite putting forward a strong case through the 2024 season for its sister team, RB, Red Bull passed over Tsunoda when replacing Sergio Pérez. Instead, it promoted Tsunoda’s teammate Liam Lawson into the seat.
