Southampton made a bit of unwanted history on Sunday, as they became the quickest side to ever be relegated from the Premier League with seven games remaining.

Defeat to Tottenham not only confirmed Southampton's relegation to the Championship, but broke the record for the earliest relegation in Premier League history. No team had previously had relegation mathematically confirmed with seven or more games left to play.

Liverpool fell to a shock defeat on its march to the Premier League title after a 3-2 loss at Fulham on Sunday. At the other end of the standings, Southampton became the first team to be relegated from England’s top flight this season after a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham.
