A western Pennsylvania woman has, for the past year, been trying to locate a $2.5 million winning lottery ticket she left in the pocket of a jacket she donated. Mildred Simoneriluto, 76, of Monroeville, told WTAE she bought the ticket at a Shop n’ Save last May but didn’t realize it was a winning ticket until two weeks later.

So where did the player hit the jackpot? The lucky ticket was sold at the Quality Mart gas station in Pinnacle, a roughly 20-mile drive northwest from Winston-Salem, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote on its website and on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Powerball tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week. The deadline for purchasing a ticket is 10 p.m. on draw nights. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m., and the New York Lottery urges players to buy tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.
