The Israeli military is preparing to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, internally displace the remaining population and provide only the "minimum caloric amount necessary for survival," according to three major publications.

Occupying Gaza and establishing military rule there would go beyond Israel's stated war goals to end Hamas rule and free hostages captured in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack.

Israel's military may occupy the Gaza Strip long-term and relocate civilians to a special zone on the Mediterranean coast. This is intended to ultimately defeat the Hamas group, according to the Financial Times.
