North Dakota's Republican governor has vetoed bills to further restrict sexual content in libraries and to create a private school voucher program.

The governor said the bill “fails to deliver the school choice North Dakota needs,” especially in rural areas where there are few or zero nonpublic school options. According to Armstrong, only 19 of North Dakota’s 168 school districts have a nonpublic school option.

Gov. Kelly Armstrong vetoed a bill that would have required most libraries in the state to keep material considered sexually explicit in areas difficult for minors to access.
