Florida lawmakers have filed bills for the 2025 legislative session that would add eligible medical conditions, allow homegrown plants and more.

Florida Senate Bill 546, currently under consideration, would allow medical marijuana patients to grow two cannabis plants at home, an initiative that has stirred up both excitement and concern.   While some patients and dispensary workers welcome the idea of homegrown marijuana,

Nearly 56 percent of Floridians said yes to legalizing recreational marijuana in the last election. While it wasn’t enough to pass, it was apparently enough to send a message to Florida Republican lawmakers.

Senate Bill 546 would allow medical marijuana patients to grow no more than two cannabis plants at home, as long as they apply and get a "cultivation certificate" from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
