Work has started on a major new housing estate in Leyburn seven years after plans for the development were first unveiled.

The future of two schools in rural areas with dwindling pupil numbers will be discussed by councillors. Police are appealing for witnesses after the break-in at the Co-op in Leyburn on Monday night.
